Moon Hill N the Village Rice Field Bike Ride

Hey Hey and a Big G'Day toya Mate we had a huge day today. As the English teaching fun had been put off for several days Shannon and I decided to ride to a mountain called Moon Mountain. When it first comes into view it is such a spectacular sight. A huge lime stone peak that has a huge hole in it, just like a big doughnut! We climbed for about an hour up the stairs that seem to just keep going and going and going. When we finally arrived at the top, or what most people think is the end of the climb we stopped rested and sat in silence at the views before us. Luckily for us we met a guy from Germany who told us to continue along the track that takes you to the back of the doughnut and we will find another track that takes up right to the top of the mountain. And to the top we went! We were so high up and mate, what a bloody view! Lime stone peaks of all shapes and sizes could be seen in every direction for as far as we could see. Between the peaks were fields filled with patterns of all shapes. We stayed chatting for ages and then began our journey back down the mountain. To get back to Yangshuo we were told to take any off road that takes you into the fields and simply follow the little roads that link each village. It was an awesome ride! This afternoon Shannon and I returned to Guilin and tried to get my ticket to Kunming. They guy in Yangshuo was trying to pull a shifty on me and make me pay one hundred and fifty Yuan more than what the ticket was worth. Bastard! How frustrated was I when the same thing as the other day happened even though it was a different lady. Down went the blinds each time. This time I even had a Chinese student trying to help me. Tonight I was told that as it is festive season and with so many people all travelling at the same time, the tickets are 'supposedly' saved for the Chinese and we foreigners are made to stay in places like Yangshuo where we can spend our money on over priced food and beer. Oh, my feet are sooo cold. Oh heating, does anyone have a spare heater! We are off to watch either the 'Thin Red Line' or the new 'Star Wars' movie this evening. Not sure which, but I am so hungry. Beers N Cheers to ya...shane _____________________________________________ The soundtrack to this entry was Slayers 'Seasons in the Abyss'! No need for further details.....why? Its Slayer mate!
